This month’s guests are Ecka Mordecai and Kate Armitage. Both of whom have played for us in Manchester separately, so we’re excited to hear them together in Tod!
Ecka Mordecai is sound artist and composer currently based in Todmorden. She composes for ‘cello using graphic scores and text, as well as creates sound objects.
Kate Armitage is an artist and a musician opposed to mystification of all kinds. Among her least favourite mystifications are the most deadly boring: “glamour”, “talent” and “expertise”. She is particularly interested in specifically feminist de-mystifications of performance; this is called playing like a woman.
Before and after their set, there will be an open improvisation jam session. All are welcome to come and play; just stick your name in the hat. Bring instruments, laptops, voices, toys…
