Kipple – 14 June 2012

Kipple is an extraordinary live experience, a six strong collective containing some of the leading electronic, experimental and free-jazz players based in the North of England.  At times an experimental electronics ensemble using acoustic samples – at others a crazed free-jazz group, with electronics adopting the traditional piano role – it is a music both experimental and strangely familiar.

Kipple features:

SHAUN BLEZARD & IAN SIMPSON

North West based improvisers and composers, whose use of live electronics is second to none in the UK.  Shaun is maybe better known to many under his Clutter pseudonym, and has collaborated with a myriad of musicians, while Ian performs regularly from his base in Warrington,  while running the “Electronic Music”  label and organization. Both are renowned for their intuitive electronics set-ups, which enable them to react with the speed and intensity of natural acoustic instuments.

HERVE PEREZ & DEREK SAW

In this group Herve is concentrating on his remarkable use of the soprano saxophone,  using both his extended techniques, culled from his exploration of  computer based electronics and sound design, to his amazing conventional fluency on the instrument.  UK jazz master Derek, playing trumpet & flugelhorn, adds an experimental jazz/improv touch to the ensemble.

JOHN JASNOCH & CHARLIE COLLINS

John (acoustic 12 string & electric guitars ) and Charlie (drum-kit & percussion),  need little introduction, having worked with most of improvisation’s  giants over the past 30 years – everything from stints with New York free jazz legends Sonny Simmons and Ted Daniel to their astonishing trio with Korean komungo player Eun-Jung Kim.  Their folk/jazz/improv intensity is legendary – they are quite simply two of the finest UK improvisers of their generation.

Be amazed!
