Cold Bath Street – ‘Sapphires’
Connectivity with the past is something that I have always felt and been intrigued by. Certainly, I’ve witnessed it resonating through a good deal of work done in the Calder Valley… you can’t get away from the Victorian museum, from the call of the past.
Under the directorship of Simon Partridge Cold Bath Street have been improvising music for nearly 15 years. The project hosts regular workshops, performances, lectures, has released four albums and collaborated with dance, film and poetry and many musicians including Carl Palmer (ELP). 2025 saw the release of the book ‘Music Improvisation Magic’, laying out approaches to group creativity, many of which will be employed tonight.
This small ensemble have been handpicked from the project’s larger roster and will use a short set of instructions to produce the larger work.
