INTONARU is an experimental music project by composer-performers Katherine Lee and Tristan Hail, exploring ambient electronic noise. After a chance meeting on a collaborative music-making course, the two found common ground in abstract sound and performance art as a means of giving voice to lesser-known social issues. Coming from two diverse perspectives– Tristan as a transgender man, Katherine as a political immigrant from Hong Kong. Their art holds a mirror to the general mood of a highly polarised political climate, working with explosive sounds and thematic uncertainties.
